Barbara Ann (Voke) Hissong, Age 80, of Laura, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 27, 2017. Barbara was born on January 10, 1937, and preceded in death by her husband Dale Hissong; parents Jennings and Mary (Thomas) Voke; brother Thomas Voke and grandson Michael McGuffey. She is survived by daughters Kathy (Jim) McGuffey, Cindy Hissong, and Shari (Jim) Boomershine; grandchildren Steve (Amanda) McGuffey, Matt (Jenny) McGuffey, Jamie (Jared) Neely, Eric (fiancé Alexandria) Boomershine; great grandchildren Madalyn, Mason, Dylan, and Blake McGuffey and brother Bob Voke. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Milton-Union High School, where she met Dale, and regularly met with her group of high school friends. Barbara was a lifetime member of Potsdam United Methodist Church. She was the church treasurer for many years and served on many committees. She was a volunteer and treasurer for the FISH organization in Union Township until just a year ago when her health forced her to resign. She worked many jobs over the years, but her main job in life was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A passion of Barbara’s, instilled in her by her mother and passed on to her children and grandchildren, was playing cards. Barbara loved playing all types of card games but she thrived on playing Euchre, both at home and in numerous card clubs. She started one of her own card clubs and continued to participate in it for over 45 years. She was on her way home from her many card nights when the Lord welcomed her home. She is in Heaven now, probably playing cards with her mother and brother while her husband and grandson are fishing. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Potsdam United Methodist Church, 12 S. Main St, Potsdam, OH 45361 with Pastor Pam Hitchcock officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 3-7 PM on Thursday, November 2 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton.
