Glenda And Family,
Betty & I are so sorry for your loss. Doug was a great guy and we thought very highly of him. Doug was one man you could count on. If he told you he would be there to help or to do something, he would be. I remember a morning a few years back at 4:30 am, I called Doug and told him I had a snowplow truck in a ditch. He didn't hesitate and said he would be right there and he was. He will be a great loss not only to his family but to our community.

Dear Glenda and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. There are no words that can take away the pain at this time. No one knows better than you what a kind, loving, giving man Doug was. He was able to make his family a priority and still give unselfishly to the community and everyone he met. Everyone that knew him benefited in some way just by having met him. Together you have raised a beautiful, loving and giving family and together you both suffered so much loss. Through it all you both were perfect examples of how God wants us to live our lives. In time, all those special memories of the good times together will help you get through each day. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers and ask that God will continue to bless all of you.
Love, Lyn Randall

Glenda and family, I truly understand that Doug's death will leave you all with a hole in your hearts. Your family has suffered such losses through the years and Doug's strength was always there for you to lean on. He was the quintessential "family first" patriarch. Not only your family, but our entire extended community benefited from his dedication: years as a volunteer fireman, Lookout Point youth center, the county ditch project - Doug saw a need for his friends and neighbors and threw himself wholeheartedly into organizing a solution from beginning to end. His contribution to the family business was admired by all of us who dealt with him. And last, personally, I will miss his friendship, wry sense of humor and homespun common sense. Thank you for sharing him with us through the years. God bring you through grief to a time when happy memories again give you joy.

Our prayers and sympathies to the whole Saunders family, I know the loss of Doug is going to leave a huge hole in all of your lives. I knew Doug as a Friend , a business owner and as someone who could be counted on in a time of need. May the Lord bless you and cover you with his grace at this time of grief...

My heart aches for the entire family. I've always considered him to be a man of high caliber, selfless in every way. He reminded me so much of my own father and I suppose that is because they valued many of the same traits in people. He was always kind, true to his faith and loved beyond belief. He was so much more than a father figure, a mentor, a firefighter, a business owner, and operator, he was a friend that I am honored to have been a huge part of my life in my formidable years.
I cannot begin to imagine the sorrow you are going through right now, but I am keeping all of you in my heart and prayers. Please know if you need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I love you all. Until such time as we meet again, rest in God's arms, Doug.

I am so sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. May the God of all comfort sustain you as you await the promises found at John 5:28,29 and Rev. 21:4 where God promises to do away with all the things that cause us suffering and pain including death here on the earth forever. (Psalm 37:29) It is my sincere hope that these thoughts comfort your family at this time.

Doug was an amazing man. He was always so willing to help anyone in need. He once walked through a blizzard to help keep my uncle and aunt safe. When my brother was in an accident, Doug dropped everything and helped with the farming. I always enjoyed talking with Doug and hearing his wisdom. His handshake and his word was all you needed to make an agreement. He so loved his family and was so proud of his farm. I feel blessed to call Doug my friend.

Every once in a while you meet someone who leaves an impression on you that last a lifetime. Many years ago Doug did this for me. A man of few words but when he did it was to the point and true. Whenever I bought calves from Doug there was never any need for a paper trail. A firm handshake and man for his word was all that was needed. It has truly been a blessing for me and my family to have Doug and his wonderful family in our lives.
Much Love,
