Joe Hobson, Age 79, of West Milton, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Brookhaven Nursing Home. He was born October 2, 1937 to the late Albert & Lula (Clevenger) Hobson in Yeager, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his siblings Don Hobson, Mildred Kidd, Helen Dalton, Ruth Rife, Gaynell Smith, and Lillian Townsend. He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Barbara E. (Landis) Hobson of 55 years; sons Kenneth (Kelli) Hobson of Brookville and Keith (Beth) Hobson of Geneva, IL; grandchildren Chenoa, Jacob, Sierra, Joelle, Rebecca Arlene, and Ruth and extended family, nieces and nephews. Joe served his country proudly in the United States Navy on the USS Boston during the Bay of Pigs where he received Letters of Commendation for Battle Efficiency for the Atlantic Fleet Cruisers in 1963 and Best Supply Department in 1964. He was a member of the Solar Masonic Lodge #730 and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He also worked at NCR as the security manager, was raised in the Baptist Church in Harold, KY, and was co-captain of the Betsy Lane High School basketball team and played in the Navy. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, playing golf and going fishing. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 10 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 9 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
