Leroy Purtee, age 93, of Tipp City, passed away Sunday morning, April 23, 2017, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born September 13, 1923, in Gettysburg, Ohio, to his parents Otis & Lela (Harrison) Purtee. Leroy graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1941 and served in the US Navy during WWII. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the General Motors Institute of Technology. He worked for Delco Products in Dayton for 20 years and retired from Kelsey-Hayes after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church and was a former member of the West Milton Jaycees, SpringMeade Advisory Board and was a Boy Scout.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years Grace (Puterbaugh) Purtee; sister Maxine Thomas. He will be missed and remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Mark and Kari Purtee-West Milton, daughters and sons-in-law Terri Purtee-Stein & Steve Stein- Maineville, OH, Lori & Jim Shirtzinger-Indianapolis, IN, Jodi (Hebb) Bartko –Greenwood, IN; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Juanita Githens- Clayton, Aloha Moore –Arcanum; brother Elden Purtee- Englewood, FL. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 28, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton, with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
