Maralee Relyea passed away on June 28, 2016, at 2:22 a.m. in Sunnyvale, California.  She was the daughter of David Orville Grise and Gladys F. Grise, born in Preble County, Ohio on December 13, 1925. She was the fifth of six children. She married William T. Relyea in 1948. They resided in Cleveland, Ohio, Michigan City, Indiana, Silver Spring, Maryland, Galion, Ohio, Tucson, Arizona and Holmes Beach, Florida during their forty-four year marriage. Maralee lived independently in Holmes Beach for another twenty-four years after the death of her husband in 1992, enjoying the company of her sister, Janice Coate, who lived in nearby Bradenton and her many island friends. A homemaker -- Maralee was known for her cookies and pies. She was always more concerned about others than herself. She was an avid reader and walker and loved the beach.  She volunteered throughout her life, including making dolls with the Presbyterian women in Galion and the Episcopalian women in Holmes Beach, shelving books for the Island Branch Library, and guiding patients at the Pinnacle Medical Center. Maralee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters, Roweena Backfisch and Nova Gray, and her brothers, Nevin Grice and Roger Grise. She is survived by her sister, Janice Coate, her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Relyea and Nanette Relyea, her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Relyea and Robert Welles, four grandsons, Bryan Relyea (and wife Holli) Jason Relyea (and wife Jennifer), Jeffrey Relyea, and Steve Relyea, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held for Maralee at the Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home in West Milton, Ohio, on Saturday, September 3rd, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Island Branch Library in Holmes Beach, Florida (earmarked for the large print fund) and the Cancer Research Institute at cancerresearch.org.
