David Duane Gibson

David Duane Gibson, age 48, of Hollansburg, Ohio, claimed “the promise He has promised- eternal life” on April 25, 2019. His faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave him the confidence of a victorious Homecoming at God’s appointed time. As he told his mother when he was three years old, “God’s holding my hand.” He was born October 9, 1970 in Celina, Ohio. He was a graduate of Milton-Union High School, Class of 1989, and a graduate of ITT, Class of 1991. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory L. Gibson, in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jodie Gibson; his mother, Marsha (Roger) Haney; his favorite sister, Jennifer (Erik) Martin; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. David had many interests including tractors, guns, Jeopardy, and joy. He was President of the Darke County Steam Threshers for several years. While he owned several different tractors, his favorite color was Allis-Chalmers orange. He liked shooting guns on the range and especially enjoyed participating in a Glock competition. He loved to play Jeopardy with his mom whether together or comparing Final Jeopardy questions over the phone. His favorite hobby was joy and laughter. David would entertain everyone with jokes, stories, impressions or songs until everyone in the room (or around the campfire) burst into laughter. His superpower was keeping his sense of humor no matter the situation. There will be a Celebration of David’s life on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the West Milton Church of the Nazarene, 151 Baker Road, West Milton, Ohio 45383. The family will be receiving visitors from 1 to 2 p.m. with the Memorial Service beginning at 2 p.m.  Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton.
