Doris (Menges) Lowry

Doris (Menges) Lowry, age 92, of Englewood, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at Grace Brethren Village. She was born February 28, 1926 to the late Daniel & Nellie (Strawser) Menges in Dayton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Estel “Zeke” Lowry; daughter Bonnie L.A. Shullenberger, and siblings Elnora Doty and Donald Menges. She will be missed and remembered by her son-in-law William Shullenberger of Ossining, NY; grandchildren David Riegel, Shannon Alexander, and Geoffrey Shullenberger; great grandchildren Morgan and Nathan Riegel, Dallas and Max Rogers, and Isabel Mihalakos; and beloved friend Melodye Webb. Doris was an administrative assistant at Belle Haven Elementary School and an active member at St. James Episcopal Church in Piqua, where she served for a number of years as Secretary to the Vestry. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, cooking, reading, genealogy and family history, modern American politics, and internet poker. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton, OH, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Dayton Memorial Park.
