Melvin E. Cabeen

Age 68, of Laura, passed away Thursday, September 7, at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit. He was born November 15, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Fairmont East High School and earned his Masters Degree in Education from Wright State.  On July 28, 1973, he married Ellen Louise Francis in Sidney and together they shared a life for over 44 years. Mel retired from Dayton Public Schools as an Elementary teacher and was a volunteer firefighter for Laura Fire Company. He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Ellen Cabeen; son David Cabeen; siblings Linda Conn of Columbus, George Cabeen of Mt. Sterling. He was preceded in death by his mother Iva Louise (Kidwell) Cabeen and brother Fred Cabeen.  Funeral services will be held 6:30 PM Tuesday, September 12, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton.  The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will be hosting a reception following the services.
