Hellard, Reba Roberta, 96, born July 13, 1922, of Grove City, formerly of West Milton, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018. She was a member of the last graduating class of Dayton’s Steele High School in 1940. Her father owned a pharmacy in Oakwood and she often worked at the store after school hours. After high school, she attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. When World War II broke out, she left Oxford and returned home to Dayton to work in the war effort. She was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in an administrative capacity for the duration of World War II. In 1948, she married Virgil F. Hellard, a World War II veteran and civil service employee at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The Hellards moved to West Milton, Ohio, in 1954, where Reba was a stay-at-home mother and active in community affairs. She was a long-time member of Hoffman United Methodist Church in West Milton and member of Sharon Chapter #132, Order of the Eastern Star. Following her husband’s passing, and facing declining health, she resided at her son’s residence in Grove City, Ohio, since 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; parents, Robert and Hazel (Snell) Parks; her brother, Ralph Clayton Parks; and sister, Mary Lois Whyte. Her survivors include sons: David (Brenda) Hellard, of Grove City, Dale (Debbie) Hellard, of West Milton, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
