Ronald D. Rice, Age 78, of Laura, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born January 30, 1939 to the late James D. & Hazel L. (Lantz) Rice in Dayton, Ohio. He will be missed and remembered by loving wife Doris A. (Newbauer) Rice of 54 years; daughters Rebecca Black of West Milton and Wendy (Joseph) Fields of Laura; grandchildren Nathan (Brandi) Fields, Nick Fields, Allison and Amanda Black; 1 great grandchild and 1 on the way; brothers James (Donna) Rice of Dayton and Jack (Susan) Rice of Georgia. Ron served his country proudly in the United States Army and loved collecting unique antiques and Cushman scooters. He enjoyed chatting with friends and being involved with church and school activities like ice cream making and sporting events. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Friday, March 10 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton, OH 45383. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Laura Christian Church, 1 S. Main St, Laura, OH 45337 with Pastor Curt Duncan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scleroderma Research Foundation, 220 Montgomery St, Suite 484, San Francisco, CA 94104.
