Alva “Tommy” Thomas Jr., age 79, of Laura, Ohio, formerly of Oakwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
Al was a proud alumnus of Wright State University and a 1963 graduate of Oakwood High School. He served his country honorably as a member of the Army National Guard and dedicated his professional life as a General Supervisor at Fram.
Al was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to be a loyal, close friend to many. He had a passion for baseball, fishing, sprint car racing, classic cars, and a deep love for animals. He treasured time spent with family and friends, and his warm smile and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Thomas Sr. and Bertha Thomas; his brother, Kenny Thomas; and his sister, Joanne Thomas.
Al is survived by his beloved wife, Barb Thomas; his brother, Harold Thomas, and Harold's wife, Pat Thomas; his children, Brian Thomas and his wife Kristie, Abby Shapiro and her husband Ben, and Brad Thomas; his cherished grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Al’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton. Memorial contributions in Al’s honor may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County or shared through acts of kindness in his memory.
