Boyd Madison Spencer

Boyd Madison Spencer of West Milton, age 87, passed away on September 2, 2021 at Koester Pavilion Troy, Ohio after long term illness. He was born February 26, 1934 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky to James E. and Nettie B. Spencer and attended Fleming County High School.

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Willard Spencer of Potsdam, Ohio, Frank Spencer of Tilton, Kentucky and sister Betty Spencer Rolph of Lexington, Kentucky.

He was survived by his recently deceased loving and caring daughter Diana Spencer Fulton of West Milton, Ohio and her husband Rob Fulton. He was survived by his recently deceased son Steve W. Spencer of Carlisle, Kentucky. Also survived by: ex-wife Nelma J. Spencer of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; children James B. (Kim) Spencer of Orient, Ohio, Darryl D. Spencer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dana A. Spencer of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Martin T. Spencer of West Milton, Ohio to which the family is grateful for the many years of care he provided in his home; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Boyd was well known and liked in the southwestern Ohio area, a friend to many and stranger to very few. With a lifelong passion for and love of automobiles, and being self-taught in the field, he opened his own shop in 1967 that he named Spencer’s Expert Paint & Body Shop, later shortened to Spencer’s Classic Auto, in West Milton where he specialized in the repair of Corvettes and restoration of other classic automobiles until 1991. After retirement he continued his passion by building his own hot rods and doing private restoration of cars for others specifically within the street rod community until his failing health several years ago. To all who have learned from Boyd please carry on his tradition of sharing knowledge and skills with others. We will always carry his memory and soft-spoken kindness in our hearts.

The family will receive friends for Visitation Service from 5-7 PM on Thursday September 30, 2021 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. A private service for internment will follow at 12 noon on Saturday October 2, 2021 at Elizaville Cemetery, Fleming County, Kentucky.
