Charles G Rhyan

We celebrate the vibrant life of Charles G. Rhyan, who passed away at the age of 81 on February 18, 2025, in Sidney at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community. Born on September 28, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio to Jean (Murray) Rhyan, Charlie brought joy and love to everyone he met.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents; Jean & Harold Rhyan, father Karl Schwab and his brother Doug Schwab.

Charlie is fondly remembered by his loving wife, Ann (Williamson) Rhyan; son, Travis (Jessy) Rhyan and grandchildren Jack and Donavan Ray; daughter, Chelsea (Jonathan) Pavkov and grandchildren Charlie, Eva, & Wesley; and sister Deb Schwab.

A true friend, devoted family man, and passionate educator, Charlie's legacy includes his tenure as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and superintendent. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying basketball, golf, fishing, and cherished times playing these with his grandchildren. His community impact was profound, founding initiatives like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Young Life in Miami and Shelby Counties and the Compassionate Care free health clinic in Sidney.  Charlie loved spending time with his endless circles of friends.  In his last days, he made room for more people through volunteering for Hospice.

Join us in celebrating Charlie’s wonderful life at The Canal House, 8760 Broad St., Port Jefferson, Ohio, with visiting hours from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by a service at 1 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Young Life are appreciated.
