Chester “Chet” Paul Loughman, age 74, of Tipp City, Ohio, passed away on April 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his nieces and nephews Mary, Ryan, Ashley and Jordan.
He was born on October 22, 1951, to Chester Paul Sr. and Lorna Mae (Niles) Loughman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Ed and Effie (Black) Loughman; his maternal grandparents, Ed and Mary Hazel (Cress) Niles; his brothers, Robert “Bob” Helmer and Richard “Sparky” Helmer; and his nephew, Chad Richard Helmer.
Chet graduated from Tippecanoe High School with the class of 1970, and he carried the values of that community with him throughout his life. He later retired from Regal, formerly AO Smith, where he worked in customer service. In every role he held, Chet was known for his steady presence, his friendly nature, and the genuine care he showed to others.
He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and a loyal Ohio State Buckeyes supporter. Chet was also a member of the Tipp City Eagles Aerie 2201 and enjoyed being part of the friendships and fellowship that came with that association. He took pride in many accomplishments over the years, including little league championships, an 18-3-1 wrestling record during his sophomore year, a 300 game in bowling, and a hole in one on the 15th hole at Homestead on September 17, 2024. These milestones reflected his competitive spirit and his enjoyment of life’s memorable moments.
Above all else, Chet was most proud of being known as “Uncle Junie” to four generations of nieces and nephews. He loved being present in their lives and made it a point to attend their events, whether they were sporting competitions or dance recitals. His support, encouragement, and steady attendance meant more than words could ever fully express. He was a beloved uncle, a trusted friend, and a constant source of warmth to those who knew him best.
He is survived by his sister, Beatrice “Bea” Hergenrather of West Milton; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Helmer and Shirley Helmer, both of Troy; four generations of nieces and nephews; and his many dear friends, including Kim Rawlins, Mike Lightle, Denny Furlong, Wayne Hasse, Dean Tamplin, Mike “Moon” Dungan, Doug Parrish, and so many more. His life was enriched by these relationships, and he returned that love with loyalty, humor, and a generous heart
Those who knew Chet will remember him as kind and selfless, a man who valued family, friendship, and simple joys. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the memories he helped create, and the example he set through the way he lived each day. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nurses and therapist at Kettering Main Campus for the care, love, and encouragement given to Uncle Junie during his fight against leukemia.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on August 8, 2026 at Tipp City Eagles Park, 3853 Tipp-Cowlesville Rd., Tipp City, OH. The family suggests anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Chet’s memory to the Tippecanoe Historical Society. Memories may be shared with the family online at www.hale-sarver.com
