David Robert Butts, age 37, of Columbus, formerly of West Milton, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born October 21, 1988, to Jeffrey & Annette (Werling) Butts in Troy, Ohio.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving parents, Jeffrey & Annette Butts; sister, Christa Butts (Nathan Robinson); nephew, Connor Robinson; grandparents, Mervin & Barbara Butts; along with his aunts, uncle, cousins, and numerous friends who were loved like family.

David was preceded in death by his grandmother, Catherine Werling, and his beloved great-uncle, Chalmer Phipps.

David was a 2007 graduate of Milton-Union High School and later attended Edison State Community College, where he majored in Information Technology. He went on to work as an IT Specialist.

Quick-witted, outgoing, and rarely at a loss for words, David never knew a stranger. He loved making people laugh, spending time with family and friends, golfing, and telling a good story—whether it was appropriate for the occasion or not.

David was fiercely loyal to the people he loved. Many of his closest friendships began in childhood and lasted throughout his life, and his friends had a way of becoming family. He was a loving son and brother, a loyal friend, and an adored Uncle Dave.

David would undoubtedly roll his eyes at anything too sentimental, so we’ll leave it simply: he was deeply loved, made life a lot more entertaining, and will be missed more than words can say.
