Dottie Foster Obituary

Dottie Darlene (Gilkison) Foster, age 83, of West Milton, OH, went peacefully to Heaven on November 27, 2024. Her son Gene and wife Christine, with whom she had lived in Wisconsin for the last year and ½, were by her side. Dottie was born June 8, 1941 to Ed and Dorothy (Morgan) Gilkison in Manchester, Ohio.

After graduating from Manchester High in 1959, she married the love of her life, Ernest Elwood Foster on May 14, 1960 moving to West Milton, Ohio, where Elwood was employed by Delco Moraine, they built their home and raised their four children. Dottie was a member of the West Milton Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years, calling it her second home and family. Once her children were all in school, she began working for the Milton-Union School District, as a cafeteria assistant, staying for over 20 years. Elwood passed away in July 1999, the couple enjoying nearly 40 years of marriage. Never one to be idle, Dottie again ventured out to seek employment, finding her niche at Walmart. She never knew a stranger during her 11 plus years there, always helping her customers with her sunny smile and kind generosity. Dottie’s life was always centered around her family. Though she enjoyed bowling, bingo and her special times with “the girls”-her longtime friends Jill, Teri girl, Rosanne, and Charlotte. She loved flowers, watching birds and wildlife and most especially, babies! Spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids became her favorite pastime. She also loved music, singing in the church choir for many years. One could often hear her humming along to her favorite country or bluegrass songs, bust mostly the old time gospel hymns.

Dottie is survived by her sons Gene (Christine) Foster of White Lake, WI and Jeffrey (Sheri Haworth) Foster of West Milton, OH; granddaughters Amy (Nathan) Colston of Centerville, Sarah (Cameron) Wesley of Piqua, Erin Moore of Greenville, Molly Moore of West Milton; grandson-in-law  Kenny Schoeb of Huber Heights; step grandchildren Chuck (Jenny) Dee of Yuma, AZ and Brandi (Karin) Kaaen-Dee of Donnelly, ID; son-in-law Mark Bellotti of West Milton; former daughter-in-law Dee (Kim) Rawlins of Tipp City, as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Dottie was the proud mamaw of 14 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Elwood; daughter Yvonne Bellotti, son Christopher Lee Foster; granddaughter Jennifer Foster Schoeb and sister Margaret (Aunt Lou) McCoy. We love you Mom, Mamaw, and faithful friend. We’ll miss you until we meet again in Heaven.
