Douglas E Barefoot

Douglas Edward Barefoot of West Milton, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2023 in New Lisbon, Indiana. He was born on January 6, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Dale Eugene and Agnes Josephine (Shulze) Barefoot. Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia Ann (Hobbs) Barefoot; children Steven (Rachel) Barefoot of Kettering and Leandra (Zac) Herick of Yigo, Guam; grandchildren Olivia Barefoot and Zoe & Lily Herick; and sisters Connie Barefoot, Kathi (Bruce) Minker, and Gail Fry. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Barefoot. 

Douglas served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 12 years, many of them as a Helmsman/Planesman (driver) on fast attack submarines. He went on to a 28 year career as an Over-the-Road truck driver, 13 years with Koch & Sons. Douglas enjoyed fishing, camping, coin collecting, NASCAR, model cars, and driving. 

A memorial gathering will be held from 2 – 4 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Hale House Event Center, 320 S. Miami St, West Milton. At 4:00 PM, all are invited to stay and share your favorite story of Doug. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton.
