Douglas Buckley Obituary

Douglas Clayton Buckley (Troy, OH) passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on March 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 14, 1961, in Melbourne, Florida, and grew up in Fairfax, Virginia. Doug attended Fairfax Christian School, Fauquier High School, and was one of the pioneer graduates of Fresta Valley Christian School in Marshall, VA.

Doug’s early career took him all over the country from Oklahoma, even to Antarctica, through his work with United Erection. His job was more than just a profession; building cell towers was an adventure he embraced with enthusiasm and dedication. He loved traveling with his cat, Brittany, and never hit the road without a healthy stash of apples, Oreos, and Mountain Dew. After retiring as foreman for the tower construction business, Doug filled his hours working for Walmart in Troy.

Beyond his career, Doug was a husband, father, and grandfather. He married his first wife, Sherri, and became a dad to her daughter, Heather. Together, they had two more children, Kathy and DJ. Their marriage ended in divorce. Doug married Donna, with whom he had two sons, Clayton and Steven.  Doug was a tell-it-like-it-is simple man of deep faith and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Doug loved the Washington Redskins, was passionate about his country and had an unwavering commitment to his beliefs. His warm, shy smile, kind eyes, easy laugh, and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children, Heather, Kathy, DJ, Clayton, and Steven; his grandchildren; his mother, Donna Buckley Bloom, and his siblings, David, Daniel, Laura, John, Richard, Linda, and Steven. They will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Robert Clayton Buckley, and his stepfather, John Charles Bloom.

A service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held by the family at Fresta Valley Christian School on March 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Fresta Valley Christian School, 6428 Wilson Road, Marshall, VA, 20115.
