Edson Lee Matthieu Jr, age 83, of West Milton, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Otterbein Tipp City. He was born November 6, 1942 to Edson Lee Sr & Frances (Hamilton) Matthieu in Versailles, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Ruth (Sudhoff) Matthieu; grandson Peyton Philpot.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Sondra Elaine (Hollenback) Matthieu of West Milton; children Susan (John) Hubler of Vandalia, Debbie (Jeff) Lyons of West Milton, Tim (Angela) Matthieu of Vandalia, and Tim (Carla) Philpot of Englewood; grandchildren Jordan (Greg) Kozel of Englewood, Jake Lyons of West Milton, Ally Lyons of West Milton, Matthieu Hubler of Vandalia, Josh Matthieu of Vandalia, and Nathan Matthieu of Vandalia; great grandson Boone Kozel of Englewood; brothers Jim (Betty) Matthieu of Lima, and John (Leticia) Matthieu of San Antonio, TX.

Edson loved solving the world’s problems with his scooter buddies at McDonalds and riding scooters. He also loved going boating, walking, hiking, camping, and harassing his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 AM on Thursday, January 8, 2025 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
