Elroy Miller Obituary

Elroy L. Miller of Miamisburg, age 91, passed away on November 6, 2020. He was born on October 21, 1929 to the late Earl and Elsie (Virgins) Miller in Cleveland, Ohio. Elroy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Germantown Senior Center and the Dayton VA “VIST” program. He and his wife Shirley (Marenchin) Miller lived in West Milton, Ohio for 20 years, where they built and renovated many houses and raised their daughters. They were active in Good Shephard Lutheran Church, where Elroy served as Council member. Shirley and Elroy relocated to Fayetteville, Arkansas where they lived for 30 years, continuing their renovation projects and building a pottery studio. Elroy was most at home gardening, working outside, and helping others.  He was a fixture at the Fayetteville Farmers Market, where he sold Shirley’s pottery and made kids laugh. He will always be remembered by Shirley, his loving wife of 68 years. He will be missed by his brother Robert E. Miller of Westlake, Ohio, and by loving family Lynn Miller and Dayle Savage of Nashville, Tennessee; Annette Miller and Hollis Weaver of Germantown; Daniel and Jessica DeFrances of Chicago, Illinois; Dylan and Jeannette Weaver of Centerville; and by nephews and nieces Paul and Matt Miller, Joyceanne Taylor and Ken Taylor, Susan and Greg Harper, and Richard Altmos and Jeanne Versluis. He is preceded in death by his brother Earl Miller, Jr. and sister Betty Altmos. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home of West Milton. The family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity, in lieu of flowers. Messages of sympathy may be left for the family online at www.hale-sarver.com.
