Freda Faye Koeller

Freda Faye Koeller, of Englewood, formerly of Dayton, passed away on her 98th birthday Friday, January 17, 2025, at Grace Brethren Village, Englewood. She was born January 17, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, to her parents James & Loney (Springer) McDonald.

On July 30, 1946, she married Clarence D. Koeller in Montgomery County, and together they shared a life for over 72 years.  Her journey through life was one woven with the love and artistry of her many hobbies and interests. Freda was a dedicated member of both the Upper Valley Fiber Guild and the Miami Valley Weaver Guild, where she immersed herself in the traditions of sewing, fiber spinning, intricate weaving, knitting and crocheting too. Along with her husband Clarence, they received the award “Distinguished Citizens for Art Education” with the Western Ohio Art Education Association. Her mastery of these crafts paralleled her loving nature. She also had a passion for her extensive genealogy lineage. Freda's adventurous spirit led her to numerous travels across the country in their beloved motor home, marking every journey with new friendships and cherished memories. While the threads of her physical presence may have drawn to an end, the colorful tapestry of her life remains a cherished piece in the hearts of all who knew her. Freda will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always celebrated. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence; her siblings Ralph McDonald and Alice Carter. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Timothy & Kathleen Koeller of West Milton; daughter Kathleen Koeller Pugh of West Milton; grandchildren Phillipa & Rick Burgos, Geoffrey & Jodi Koeller, Benjamin Koeller, Emily Pugh, Christopher & Letitia Pugh; great grandchildren Jakob, Kelvin, and Trevor Burgos, Anna and Sam Koeller, Ian and Eli Pugh; extended family, friends and caregivers.

The family would like to thank the staff at Grace Brethren Village and Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for the loving care they showed to Freda during her stay with them.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton, with interment following at Trissel Cemetery, New Lebanon. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
