Frieda Piilanikuuleialohakalua Vasquez Story, age 82, of Ludlow Falls, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Tipp City, Ohio. She was born on June 19, 1943, to Vincent and Annie (Peterson) Vasquez in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii.
A family tree was kept by her Tutu (Grandmother) and passed to Frieda. With this, she was able to trace her Hawaiian roots back eight generations to a man whose name was recorded as Kaahnonaali and his wife, Kahina Kaniniu. These ancestors were born about the year 1790 on the island of Kauai approximately five years prior to the unification of the Hawaiian Islands by King Kamehameha I.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Donald Story; children Loren Story and Danielle Hollobaugh, and granddaughter Mikayla Hollobaugh.
She will be deeply missed and remembered by her sons Christopher Story and wife Amanda of Springfield, MO and Michael Story of Troy, OH; two granddaughters Sarah Maples and husband Seth of Salem, MO, and Christina Lindsey and husband Ryan of Springfield, MO; three great-granddaughters Story Maples, Thea Lindsey, and Felicity Lindsey; and one great-grandson Sky Maples.
Frieda was a dedicated military spouse, a diligent Pharmacy Technician, a devoted mother, a wonderful Grams, and a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She also had a deep love for her cats.
“He mau makana kēia no ʻoukou mai ko kākou mau kūpuna mai.” (These are gifts for you from our ancestors.)
By their living example our elders bestowed their values upon their children and grandchildren. May we strive to embrace, cherish, and preserve these values so we too can pass them to our children and their children.
A service will be held at 10:00 AM on May 16, 2026, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home 284 North Miami St., West Milton. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery, Ludlow Falls, OH. Donations may be made to The Miami County Animal Shelter. Online memories of Frieda may be left for the family at www.hale-sarver.com.
