Gail Preston Cross, age 92, of West Milton, passed away on September 17, 2025 at Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio. He was born October 26, 1932 to Preston and Viola (Godown) Cross in Pittsburg, Ohio.
He preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Bob Grosvenor; granddaughter Christina Cross; siblings Wilford (Rose) Cross, Wilma (Raymond) Baker, Robert Cross, Glenna (Walter) Sharp, Mary (Carol) Smith, Carl (Trudy) Cross, Kathalin (Jessie) Root, Joan (Bill) Welbaum, and Dean Cross.
He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife of 74 years, Betty (Thompson) Cross; children Kim (Pam) Cross of Ludlow Falls, Karla Grosvenor of West Milton; great grandchildren Trey (Taylor) Cross, Dylan (Precious) Cross; great great grandchildren Nora Mae Cross, and numerous extended family and friends.
Gail served his country in the Army as a medic during the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient following being wounded in combat. Following his military service he embarked on a lifelog career as a flooring installer both in the field as well as a business owner at Cross’s Floor and Wall Covering. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Mountain Top VFW in Pleasant Hill, Covington Eagles, and the American Legion in Englewood.
The family will have a celebration of life service on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Mountain Top VFW 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton.
