Age 68, of Union, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born June 18, 1955, in Dayton, Ohio, to his parents Charles Edward & Esther Jayne (Warner) Strain. Gary graduated from Milton-Union High School, earned a degree at Tri State University, and worked at Kodak Digital Printing as a manufacturing engineer. He was an inventor who enjoyed construction, wood working, and gardening. He also enjoyed playing softball, basketball and watching the Cincinnati Reds. But mostly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed and remembered by his wife Dawn Marie (Ruff) Strain; children and their spouses Melaney & Bryant Ballengee of West Milton, Jerry & Crystal Strain of Liberty, Indiana; 4 grandchildren; siblings and their spouses Jodie & John Cook of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Scott & Deb Strain of Yellow Springs, Jennie & Dave Kossler of Union.  Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 10, at Highland Brethren in Christ Church, 7210 S Jay Rd, West Milton.
