Helen L. Keating, 90, of Ludlow Falls, formerly of Miamisburg, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born March 12, 1926, in Bradford, to the late William W. and Mary (Barnes) Overla. She married Cleo R. “Mike” Keating on March 9, 1946; he preceded her in death on December 19, 1997 after 51 years of marriage.
Helen will be missed and remembered by two sons, Daniel (Joyce) Keating of Pickerington, and Thomas (Judy) Keating of Germantown; daughter Norma Colussi of Centerville; granddaughter Sarah (John) DeGrasse; six grandsons, Andrew (Tara) Keating, Matthew (Heather) Keating, Adam Keating, Nathan (Tonee) Keating, Tony (Lynda) Colussi, and Timothy (Alison) Colussi; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Weaver of Greenville; and special friend Tony Masters. She was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Robert, Richard, and Max Overla; sisters Marjorie Snyder and Dorothea Shellenberg; and son-in-law Larry Colussi.
Helen was a 1944 graduate of Newton High School and a 1978 graduate of Sinclair Community College. She was employed by the Mound Lab in Miamisburg for 20 years and retired as a buyer in 1985. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, and a former member of Lower Miami Church of the Brethren. She was involved for 10 years with the Miami County Jail Ministry. Helen was also a member of the Milton-Union Senior Citizens, Troy Moose, and Eastern Star of New Carlisle.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Pleasant Hill, with Pastor Nick Beam officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Creek Cemetery, Bradford. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
