Imogene (Furlong) Roberts

Cleta Imogene Roberts, of West Milton, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at the age of 98. She was born on May 15, 1927, and lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and the simple, meaningful joys of home.

Imogene is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mabel (Pearson) Furlong; brothers Lloyd (Virginia) Furlong and Roscoe Furlong; sisters Betty Jean, Orpha Naomi, Helen (Dan) Martin, Cuba (Arthur) Whitmer, and Maxine (Galen) Magee. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Remond Roberts.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Ian) Caton, her grandson Robert Caton; and numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and dedication.

Imogene began her professional career as an executive secretary at Frigidaire, where she was respected for her skill and professionalism. After the birth of her daughter, she chose to devote herself fully to her family, embracing motherhood with care and commitment.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She was an active member of the Nashville United Church of Christ, where she served as a junior choir director and Sunday school teacher in her earlier years, and later as church secretary for decades. Her service reflected her deep faith and generosity of spirit.

Imogene found great joy in the rhythms of home life. She was an avid gardener who took pride in growing her own vegetables and fruits, which she carefully canned and preserved for her family. She also enjoyed watching the wildlife her backyard, especially the birds, finding peace and beauty in nature.

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her nurturing heart, her infectious laugh and the love she gave so freely to her family and community. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the traditions she passed down. A life well lived, and deeply cherished.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Wheelock Cemetery, West Milton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton.
