James "JT" Garland Obituary

James Thomas “JT” Garland, age 81, of Arcanum, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Kettering Health Dayton. He was born April 8, 1941 to Everett & Lucille (Gray) Garland. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Bernice Rehmert and brother Doug Garland.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Denise (Slaven) Garland of 37 years; children Todd (Carol) Garland of Greenville, Kenny (Karen) Garland of Arcanum, Stefanie (Jason) Brock of Arcanum, and Matthew (Tracy) Hamilton of Columbus; grandchildren Bethany Jutte, Eric Garland, Joshua Shellhaas, Dustin Garland, Zachary Garland, Marco Silva, Autumn Brock, Nick Delk, and Jared Delk;  great grandchildren Mylah Garland, Laynah Garland, Mahlon Shellhaas, Eli Shellhaas, Norah Shellhaas, River Garland, and Remi Garland; siblings William “Bill” Garland of Florida, Jean Murphy of Columbus, and Everett Garland Jr of Greenville.

Jim was a 1959 Westmont High School graduate and worked for Fram in Greenville for over 40 years. He was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Church and loved to go camping, classic cars, motorcycles, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Pleasant View Missionary Church, 5231 Gettysburg-Pitsburg Rd, Greenville, Ohio 45331 and will be interpreted for the deaf and the hard of hearing. The family has asked that everyone attending the celebration of life to wear your Ohio State apparel. Arrangements are in care of Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, West Milton. Memorial contributions may be made to Ludlow Falls Campgrounds. Online memories of Jim may be left for the family at www.hale-sarver.com.
