Joe Wayne DeWitt, age 81, of Ludlow Falls, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born May 16, 1941 to John W. & Wava Marie (Sherrick) DeWitt in Auburn, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother Opal Dewitt; daughter Christine DeWitt; sister and brother-in-law Sally & Jerry Clark.
He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Ora Margaret (Adkins) DeWitt of 26 years; daughter Joleen W. Dewitt (Hansen Ragatz) of Elburn, IL; stepson Greg (Patty) Vance of Oakwood; step daughter Dee (Rob) Goodall of Tipp City; grandchildren Hayden, Owen, Madelyn, Ian, Lauren, and Hannah; step brother Randy Houser; step sister Maxine Elward;
Joe retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force after 26 years of service also serving during the Vietnam War. He was a certified flight instructor and member of the “Quiet Birdman.” Joe was a major with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery, Newton Township. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM on Sunday, March 12 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
