Johnnie R. Loper, age 71, of Laura, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1953 to Johnnie Raymond & Bonnie M. Loper in Dayton, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his father Johnnie Raymond Loper, and sister-in-law Karen Greiner. He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Sharon G. Loper of 52 years; daughters April (Tom) Jennings of Covington, and Shonda (Nathan) Ferguson of Laura; mother Bonnie M. Loper; grandchildren Damian Ray (Katlynn Lee), Daniel Jennings, and Odette Ferguson; great grandchildren Ayla Ray, and Liam Cline; brother Gerald “Dink” Loper of Potsdam; mother-in-law Wilma “Punk” Green; sisters-in-laws Ann (Phil) Shoemaker, Kaye Green, Trudy (Larry) Mays, and Diana (Brad) Storer; brother-in-law Rick Greiner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnnie retired after 40+ years of service at Stryver Manufacturing as a machinist. He built the engines for Pappy’s Toys Go-Karts. Johnnie loved spending time with his family and was always out in his garage or barn tinkering or fixing anything with an engine.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM- 1 PM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Potsdam Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
