Klay Powers Obituary

Klay Brian Powers, 26, of Ludlow Falls, Ohio, passed away on April 1, 2025 at his new home. Klay was born on November 17, 1998 to Keith and Cheri Powers in Troy, Ohio.

Before graduating from Milton-Union High School, Klay enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in the 0311 Infantry from 2017 to 2021. After completing his service to our country, he enrolled in the adult education program through Warren County Career Center and became certified as an Electric Power Lineman in July 2022 and was employed as a lineman at Ohio Edison/First Energy in Springfield, OH. Klay had a deep passion for life's simple joys. He found happiness riding his dad’s Harley, working on his beloved square body Chevy truck, and sharing his love of music through guitar. Whether camping under the stars, fishing by a lake, or enjoying a bonfire with friends and family, Klay cherished the outdoors. His competitive spirit was often on display during card games or while passing a football with loved ones, and his sense of humor made every moment memorable. He also enjoyed sports, especially football, baseball, and golfing—and loved playing Madden, though only when he was winning. Klay valued his friendships, particularly with his Marine Corps brothers, with whom he maintained a strong bond even after his service. His connection with those who served beside him remained a central part of his life. Klay was determined and headstrong, always ready to prove others wrong. He was the kind of person who could light up a room with a song on his guitar, often hoping his best friend and nephew, Jeffery, would sing along. Though his time with us was far too short, Klay’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Klay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie and Delphine Worden and Lester and Lou Powers. Klay is survived by his parents; siblings Karen (Chad) Bush, Kelly Hergenrather (Brendan Thomas), Kristopher (Jenn) Hergenrather, Katrina (Nick) Stathes, Karrie Powers (Cory Sestak), and Kody Powers; a niece and nephew that grew up with him and are like siblings; Kalesha (Tyler) Peacock and Jeffery (Nicole) Strawser. Klay also has younger nephews and niece, Isaiah Heffner, Blake Bush, Jonah Hergenrather, Alexander Stathes, Lincoln Peacock, and Addison Sestak.
