God’s hand was evident in every step of Nancy’s life. She graduated from Milton – Union High School with the class of 1965. Nancy, with her husband, was baptized on October 15, 1972, into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, where she remained faithful until her death. Nancy married Thomas (Tom) L. Yount on May 18, 1968. They shared almost 58 years together. They were blessed with 3 sons, Jeffery (Carin), Chad (Lisa) and Timothy (Rebekah); 9 grandchildren Cody, Bradley, Ashley, Brianna (Lincoln) Wagoner, Kaylee, Sierra (Caden) Fisher, Cason, Maura, Rowen and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dear Grandma,
We will never forget all the love you have shown us.
You, first and foremost, taught about Jesus.
You made bedtime the best and fussing was rare.
A story, a song, and a kiss all to spare.
While brushing your teeth, you never did know,
You had a grandchild watching you so.
You would always join in with the plea, “Come play!”
The rocks: collected, and the Play-Doh: spread,
The shoestring, a leash, round the animals’ head.
You’d get out the crayons and coloring books,
Your granddaughter would copy with many quick looks.
“Please read to me, Grandma,” you often did hear,
So “The Bird Book” was read with nary a tear.
Button jars held many hours of wonder.
Now, memories of Grandma have our hearts all asunder.
We wish to smell that scent of apples again,
To be wrapped in your arms would sure bring a grin.
Your grandchildren remember their grandmother’s love
While you’re with your dear Savior in Heaven above.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She was often found working in her flowerbeds and garden. She enjoyed sewing with friends. Nancy treasured spending quality time with friends; she and Tom traveled frequently to do so. Nancy was always quick to share her smile with everyone, making her cheerful demeanor a joy to encounter.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, Eddie and his wife Lana Deaton, and her sister, Melinda Flora. Nancy is survived by her husband, her children, grand and great-grandchildren, along with many relatives and friends.
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.”
