Norman Reeder was born August 26, 1937 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 29, 2026.

Norm, as most people knew him, was a man of faith, having been raised in and becoming a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren.  He was a family loving man, a gentleman farmer, someone who liked dabbling in carpentry and home construction.  Norm was also a giver having been a volunteer firefighter for the Ludlow Falls F. D. in the 1960’s, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Brethren Volunteer Services and Brethren Disaster Ministries.  He took joy and purpose in helping people.

He grew up on his family’s farm, participating in FFA and 4-H before graduating in 1955 from Tipp City High School.  Norm then served his country for 2 years through the Brethren Volunteer Services as a conscientious objector in New Windsor, MD and Hastings, MN.  He briefly drove a semi hauling manufactured houses for Vindale, then took a job at Hobart Brothers after marrying Betty Green on August 8, 1959.  After beginning a career in data processing in 1965, he worked several years for Ledex Corporation then over 25 years for the NCR Corporation.  He graduated from Sinclair Community College in 1976 with a degree in computer programming, after 10 years of night school classes.

During his “spare” time, Norm helped raise 3 daughters, farmed his land and some neighboring properties.  Many folks may remember him from his “retirement job” at Tractor Supply in Troy, during which time he was also Betty’s sole caregiver.  He was a mellow guy who treasured a sense of humor.  His grin was infectious and his resounding laugh could be heard from afar.

Norm enjoyed mentoring all 3 daughters with their sheep 4-H projects and loved roller skating with them until he was in his 60’s.  When they could, he and Betty liked watching them play soccer, cheerlead and play in the band.  After the grandchildren came along, they also tried to attend all their soccer and hockey games, as well as gymnastic competitions and horse shows.

Those waiting to welcome Norm home are his wife of 55 years, Betty; parents Ralph and Coral Reeder; sisters Arlene Pemberton and Wilma Brewer.

Norm leaves behind a sister, Ann Weaver; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and Rodney Dohner, Jennifer and Wayne Wenrick, Johanna and Eric McCann; grandchildren, Dominic Wenrick, Emily and Brandon Hicks, Madison and Wesley McFadden, Gage and Hailey McCann and Elise and Mitch Clark; 2 great-grandchildren on the way; “special grandchildren” and their families, Meredith Shima, Mallory Edwards and Meghan Wittke; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 6:30 PM on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton with funeral service beginning at 6:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Milton Church of the Brethren or Habitat for Humanity of Miami and Shelby County, Ohio.
