Raymond Lawrence Landis

Raymond Landis, age 86, of West Milton, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on June 4, 2025. He was born on September 15, 1938 to Raymond and Jeanette (Nauyoks) Landis in Dayton, OH.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Landis.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Susan (Woolery) Landis, and children, Gail Landis of Saint James City, FL, Mark (Amy) Landis of McCartyville, OH, Lori (Mark) Lawson of Troy, OH, seven wonderful grandchildren Courtney (Joel) Albers, Elizabeth (Rex) Tietje, Ashley and Mary Landis, Paige, Grace and Adam Lawson and four great-grandchildren Noah and Olivia Albers, Eleanor and Leonard Tietje.

Raymond’s journey was marked by dedication to his family, community and country. He was a proud graduate from Phillipsburg High School in 1956.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.  Later he went on to graduate from Ohio Northern University in 1967 earning a Juris Doctorate. Raymond was a partner at Huffman, Landis, & Weaks law firm for 39 years. He also served on many boards; a Past President of West Milton Rotary, West Milton Law Director, Central Committee Chairman for the Miami County Republican Party, Foundation Board of Stouder Memorial Hospital, Miami County Board of Elections, past member and past President of the Miami County Bar Association.  Raymond was instrumental in the building of the new Milton-Union Public Library, where he served as its Financial Officer.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Church of the Transfiguration, 972 S. Miami Street, West Milton. Interment at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Milton-Union Public Library.
