Raymond "Jr." Hartman Obituary

Raymond J. “Jr.” Hartman of West Milton, age 89, passed away on March 10, 2021. He was born on March 20, 1931 in Miami County, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Myrtle (Schlechty) Hartman. On August 29, 1948, Jr. married the love of his life, Evelyn Marcille Borts, and together they built a life and raised their two girls, Carol & Becky. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He went on to start his own construction company, Hartman Construction, utilizing his many skills in building & woodworking that he learned as a young man working at his father’s construction company.  Following his retirement, Jr. and Marcille spent 14 years in Lady Lake, Florida, before returning home to Ohio to be close to their family.

Jr. enjoyed many hobbies including golf, bowling, bocce ball, shuffleboard, watching UD Flyers & Cincinnati Reds games, and especially a good card game with family and friends. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and in recent years watching his great-grandchildren, Katie and Dusty, play basketball at Troy Christian & Edison State. He was very loved and will be forever missed and remembered.

Jr. is survived by his wife Marcille, daughters Carol Poteet and Becky Hartman, grandson Scott (Colleen) Poteet, and great-grandchildren Katie & Dusty Poteet. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Margaret Mullins.
