Richard Dodson Obituary

Earl Richard “Dick” Dodson, age 81, formerly of Pleasant Hill, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. He was born on September 7, 1944, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a steady, thoughtful presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dick graduated from DeGraff High School and went on to build a respected career as a locksmith. He retired after owning and operating Pools Lock Service in Dayton, where he was known for being handy, dependable, and committed to doing the job right. Through his work, he earned the trust of many and took pride in providing a service that reflected his strong work ethic and practical skill.

He was a longtime member of the West Milton United Church of Christ, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. Dick enjoyed many activities over the years, including snow skiing, golf, snowmobiling, and boating. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren and family, whether on the water or in the mountains, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Hess and Donna Lucille (Carr) Dodson; his wife of 60 years, Priscilla (Sarver) Dodson; and his grandson, Wade Dodson. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Maggie Dodson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Tad Dodson of Englewood; his grandchildren, Darion Dodson of Piqua, Emma Dodson of Boston, Massachusetts, and Zachery Dodson of Steamboat, Colorado; his great-grandson, Noah Dodson of Piqua; and his sister and brother-in-law, Gary and Nancy Garrett of Villages, Florida.

Those who knew Dick will remember him as a thoughtful man with a quiet strength and a generous spirit. His life was one of dedication, love, and simple joys shared with the people who mattered most to him.

Dick’s legacy lives on in the family he loved, the work he completed with care, and the many lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
