Robert Earl Hunt passed away on August 27, 2025, in West Milton, Ohio. Born May 10, 1948, in Dayton, he was the son of Don and Jean Frazell Hunt, a proud Northmont High School graduate from the Class of 1965, and a Wright State University alumnus. He spent nearly three decades with the John R. Jurgensen Company, and he loved what he did. If you asked about his work, he would grin and say, “I help turn big rocks into little rocks.” He found joy in work done right, and proof of his order lived in his barn, where a single labeled manila envelope could tell you everything about a machine, from the manual to the warranty to notes in his tidy hand; nothing left to chance.
Robert dedicated his life to his loved ones and to the simple pleasures that make a day feel full. Weekends, you could find him at the lake, where projects felt like invitations and patience became progress, and he ended many evenings by dunking oreos into milk. Over the years, he owned nine motorcycles, each one a problem to solve and a freedom he had earned, including the Harley-Davidson trike he bought to celebrate his retirement.
He brought a builder’s heart to people, too. He taught local school kids each year at Hug the Earth festival, letting curious hands hold stone, feel its grit, learn how the world is pieced together. Neighbors knew he stayed until the hinge swung true, and family knew he showed up when the hauling needed doing. His lovable flaw was legendary. He insisted that even simple jobs needed a full set of dimensions and a step by step plan, and he was happiest when everyone followed it. He laughed easily, rooted loudly for Ohio State, and always had a soft spot for little white fluffy dogs.
Robert’s heart was fullest with his family. He found his soulmate in Jill Clark, whom he married on August 19, 1989, in West Milton, Ohio. He is survived by Jill, his wife of 36 years, and by his son, Tyler Jordon Hunt, who brought him lasting pride. Both love and miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be remembered whenever a careful plan and effort turns into something sturdy and useful.
