Ruth Ann Jay

Ruth Ann Jay, age 90, of West Milton, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Miami Valley South Hospital, Centerville, Ohio. She was born February 15, 1936 to the late Kenneth Roop & Mary Elizabeth Brown in Troy, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband DeVon Jay and siblings Butch (Irvin) Roop, Marilyn Swiger, and Jim Roop.

She will be missed and remembered by her children David (Dawn) Jay of West Milton, OH, and Lynn (JD) Deaton of New Vienna, OH; 4 grandchildren Danielle (Adam) Sweitzer of Troy, OH, Dustin (Chelsi) Jay of West Milton, OH, Kenton Deaton and Kaylynn Deaton of New Vienna, OH, and 4 great grandchildren Jaydan and Jayce Lawhorn of Troy, OH, and Kyler and Brody Jay of West Milton, OH.

Ruth Ann graduated from Troy High School class of 1954 and worked for Sunshade in Troy, OH before marrying DeVon in 1958. She was a member of the West Milton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years and a fulltime homemaker. She and her best friend, Rosie, painted many crafts that were sold at the Hen’s Nest in West Milton. She most recently resided at Brookdale Centennial Senior Living facility in Englewood, OH.  

The viewing will be Sunday, May 31, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Hale-Sarver Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton.  Funeral services will be Monday, June 1, at 10:30 AM, with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.
