Stanley "Stan" Magel Obituary

Stanley Ferd Magel, age 83, of West Milton, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025. He was born February 16, 1942, in Troy, Ohio, to his parents Arthur “Bud” & Mary Esther (Shafer) Magel.

Stan graduated from Milton-Union High School Class of 1960 and soon after joined the Ohio National Guard. He was employed by the State of Ohio, until an on the job injury forced him into early retirement. He founded Magelawn, Inc. in the early 1980s primarily for his young sons. The company thrived for over 20 years then was bought out privately. Stan was a lifetime member of the Church of the Transfiguration and took his faith very seriously. He loved having family Sunday gatherings, enjoying the grandkids playful laughter, fun and pranks, that he was usually the source of. In prior years, he took pride and joy over maintaining his lawn and flower beds. On weekends at the lake, he joyed boating, skiing, bonfires and hog roasts with family and friends. He loved his cars and was the proud owner of several hundred different cars throughout the years. His 1962 Corvette was his most prized vehicle that he would talk about. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, Dale Earnhardt in particular, and enjoyed watching Blue Bloods, car auctions, and nature shows. Most recently, Stan could be found at the Old Mason Winery enjoying wine with friends. But mostly, he loved spending a private, quiet and sometimes hectic life with his beloved wife, his love, and his lifetime partner. They spent over 56 years together…most of their lives, enjoying and sharing life and each other’s company. He will be forever missed.

He will be missed and remembered by his loving wife Sandra Magel; sons and daughters-in-law Clint & Heather Magel, Nikolaos Magel & Jennifer Fanning; grandchildren Morgan Magel, Clay Minton (Alivia), Dalton Minton (Tylan Hentrick), Colt Magel (Bethany), Dusty Magel, Dakota King (Brianne Fairchild), Joshua Keller; great grandchildren Reagan Magel, Walker Magel, Theo Minton, Charlotte Minton, Jaxton King; sisters and brothers-in-law JoAnna & Steve Grise, Nina & Grant Victor; He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Diana Gheen; longtime best friend Teddy Weeks; beloved companion Rennie his beloved childhood German Shepherd; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
