Stephen Alexander Henderson Jr, age 27, of Dayton, Ohio, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 23, 1996 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton to his parents, Stephen Henderson Sr and Charlene Henderson.
Stephen (he went by his middle name, Alex) graduated from Tipp City High School Class of 2015, then studied first at the University of Cincinnati before his transfer to the Ohio State University, where he received his BS in Electrical Engineering in 2019; followed by his MS from the University of Dayton in Electrical Engineering in 2021. He was currently completing his PhD at the University of Dayton in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Parallax Advanced Research in Beavercreek as an AI Hardware Developer and was a published author with subject matter that showcased his groundbreaking research on Nanoscale Architectures. He also taught undergraduate classes at Sinclair College. Alex was a smart, caring, loving, joyful and special individual, who will be missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends and colleagues.
He is survived by his parents, Steve and Charlene, as well as sister, Casey L Henderson and fiance Ryan Wizniak, all of St Petersburg, FL, and his life-long friend and mentor Roger Bailey of Vandalia, treasured cat Gracie, as well as other family members, including Uncle Robert Jones and Aunt Linda Jones of Centerville; and cousins Amy Ulrich of Centerville and Alissa Hamilton of Tipp City. Alex attended the Polk Grove United Church of Christ as a youngster, then Westminster Presbyterian Church as an adult. Alex also loved music and was gifted trumpet player, who marched in the Tipp City Marching Band.
A memorial service to honor Alex’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Wilkinson St, Dayton, OH 45402. Memories may be shared with the family online at www.hale-sarver.com.
