William D. Helman

Age 87, of Tipp City, formerly of Pleasant Hill, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Otterbein of Tipp City.  Bill was born March 1, 1939, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, to his parents Kenneth & Viola Irene (Swigart) Helman. He graduated from Newton High School class of 1958.  On July 7, 1962, he married Colleen Jane Kinnison in Pleasant Hill and together they shared a life for over 63 years.  He retired from General Motors as a machinist after nearly 40 years of employment. Following his retirement from GM, he went to work for Cameo Construction for over 10 years. He also had a small business sharpening mower blades and could fix just about everything. Bill enjoyed collecting cars, stockcar racing, and bird watching. He was a craftsman and loving working in his garage. He will be missed and remembered and his loving wife Colleen; his children and their spouses Vicki & Tony Duris of Sylvania, Debra Harden & Troy Ainsworth of Troy, Bradley & Elizabeth Helman of Covington; grandchildren Cody Harden of Tipp City, Josh Duris, Kylie Harden, Aiden & Alison Helman , Samuel Helman of Covington, Maxwell Helman of Covington; and one great grandchild on the way. numerous extended family and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Morgan Duris; sister Pauline “Teen” Chronabery; granddaughter-in-law Elisha Harden. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 16, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton, with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
