Katherine M. Clifton, Age 57, of Piqua, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1960 to the late Kenneth & Eva Arlean (Ott) Clifton in Oregon, Ohio. She will be missed and remembered by her loving cousins Sharon (James) Donnelly, Diane (David) Chong, Nicole Chong, Michelle Chong, Jeff (Barbara) Clifton, Bob Hufford, Peggy Hufford, Thomas (Kathy) Hufford, Mike Hufford, Mary Applegate, Jane McClellan, and Candy Clifton; aunts Margaret Clifton and Iris Clifton and close friends Cindy Howard, Peggy Nihizer, and Monica Winemiller and many other numerous friends. Kathy was a 1978 Milton-Union High School graduate then received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University in 1982. Kathy attended Indiana University where she was working towards her Masters Degree. She was a Professor at Edison Community College for 30 years where she was on the Diversity Committee, President’s Council, Strategic Planning Committee, Academic Senate, and also started the International Program and led their Study Abroad Program where she traveled to Egypt, England and France. Kathy was also a recipient of the 5 year service award for serving as the chapter advisor of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Outstanding Adjunct in 2003 for SOCHE, State Teacher of the Year award in 2012 for OATYC for her outstanding service to Edison Community College, Edison State Quality Improvement Award in 2015, Lifetime Faculty Achievement Award with 1,000 plus credit hours in 2016. She was a member of Piqua Baptist Church where she served on the Christian Education Committee and had also served on the Union Township Heritage Association. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St, West Milton. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, West Milton. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Thursday, November 16 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Pink Ribbon Girls, 15 S. Second St, Tipp City, OH 45371.
